Commercial Complaints
I watch way too much television. My favorite show (based on viewing time) is the local news on WLFI-TV in Lafayette, IN. I watch every broadcast, even though there is much rehashing of stories. (Not that much happens here.)
Because of my excessive viewing, I see lots of commercials. Including these:
I really need to get out more!
Because of my excessive viewing, I see lots of commercials. Including these:
- A Dr. Phil promo that has been running for at least a year includes this quote: "It's anything goes, and they're pushing the envelope!" If anything goes, there shouldn't be any envelope to push.
- A spot for a place in Kokomo describes it as "conveniently located". To me, anything that's not one door past my bathroom is inconvenient. Driving over a half an hour to buy the same crap I can get in West Lafayette is definately not convenient!
- A small store in West Lafayette caters to people from India, plus sells discount party supplies. In what must be their first commercial, the camera pans across the front window of the store, and we see that they offer "P A T Y S U P P L I E S". Sheesh!
- This may be a radio spot, but have you noticed that Jeff Vierk, of Vierk's Fine Jewelry, sounds like a muppet? "Today's commercial is brought to you by the letter P - as in Pretentious Pawn Shop"
- Finally, over on the Indy NBC affiliate, the network is describing next week's episode of West Wing as "All New". Is West Wing going to push out a show with 50% recycled scenes?
I really need to get out more!
