What Time Is It?

Dale Grubb's guest editorial in today's Lafayette Journal and Courier hit the time zone nail on the head. Like most people I speak with, he says that we should leave Indiana's time zone as is - Eastern Standard Time year round. The best quote:
It will always be a different time elsewhere, as the sun can't be everywhere at once.

It's too bad that our new governor has said he's going to make a big deal out of this. We need to let him know quickly that changing zones or the daylight savings setting is a bad idea.

Comments:
Sorry, but I must disagre with you on this. Indiana needs to be more attractive to companies, and to do so in ways other than tax advantages. Executives want a location which is not only inpexpensive, but pleasant for living. Indiana's reluctance to accept a Time Zone doesn't place the state in a good light.

I think we should be on Central Time rather than Eastern - Chicago is much nicer than New York City. :-)

I think the time zone is fine the way it is. What are you gong to gain by moving us to Day Light Savings time, an extra hour of sun, in the morning? That means, instead of the sun going down at 6 in the evening, like it does now, it'll go down at 5, making it darker, earlier, all because we want one hour of sun in the am. That doesn't make sense to me. Personally, I enjoy it very much that I don't have to change my clock twice a year, and wonder what time I'm in. I also like have a very set sleeping schedule, and one day a year when I have to wake an hour early will throw me off for weeks.
